Arts
Waco has a thriving artistic community and has been designated as a Cultural District by the Texas Commission on the Arts. As a result, Creative Waco was formed as a nonprofit organization that seeks to bring Waco’s art professionals together in a Waco Arts Alliance and put the Waco Cultural Plan into action.
The Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University includes the Belew Collection and the McCullen-Connally Family Collection, 227 watercolors representing the California School of Watercolor from the 1930’s and ‘40’s. The museum serves as a vital resource for the university and community.
Clifton has a vibrant art scene, highlighted by the Bosque Arts Center, a three-story historic landmark built in 1923 on a hilltop overlooking the town and the scenic Bosque River valley. The Center has been the hub for all artistic endeavors in the county since the 1960’s, from housing nationally-recognized collections to currently working artists and sculptors residing in the area.
